What is plant-based /veganism and why you should consider changing to plant-based?

A plant-based diet, also known as a vegan diet involves doing away with animal-based products including eggs meat dairy honey and gelatin. However veganism extends beyond just the diet the vegan society defines veganism as a way of living which seeks to exclude as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of and cruelty to animals for food clothing or any other purpose.

This means that vegans do not wear clothing made with animal materials such as leather and wool. Vegans do not buy cosmetics tested on animals or support entertainment seen as animal cruelty such as bullfighting or SeaWorld.

Veganism lifestyle offers so many advantages not only to the individual embracing the lifestyle but to the entire planet earth.

The benefits of a vegan diet include:

Reduced risk of cancer.  Red meat has been named a group 2 carcinogen, vegans do not have this risk because you do not eat meat.

Because the veganism diet contains a low amount of saturated and trans fats there are less blood cholesterol and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases.

People who consume a high number of plant-based food sources in their diet greatly lowered their risk of developing type 2 diabetes than people who don’t. For vegans, the risk of developing diabetes is at a minimum.

Veganism also improves mood. Vegans and average experience more positive mood than people who consume meat.

The benefits of a vegan lifestyle include:

  • By using only natural ingredients you avoid certain risks of absorbing chemicals that interfere with your body’s system.
  • A plant-based diet boosts your beauty regimen by reducing the risk of acne which has been linked to dairy products.
  • By boycotting the leather industry vegans are helping the environment. Raising livestock has contributed 14.5% of the greenhouse gas emissions and the planet. The production process of leather also involves various chemicals that pollute waterways and raise the risk of disease for people.

Going out to eat for vegans.

Veganism involves eliminating a lot of animal-based food from your diet, however, you can still leave a normal life and do all the things that you like to do like going out with friends and eating out while on a vegan diet. You only need to take some things into consideration and you’re good to go.

It is easy to assume that because you have now embraced the vegan lifestyle eating out is no longer a thing you can do. If you look at the number of fast food places around you, that assumption nears validation.

All you need to do is look closely you will definitely find a restaurant ideal for a vegan.

So being on a vegan diet means you will not gain weight unnecessarily. You can eat healthily and eat as much as you can without worrying about gaining a few pounds.

It’s no wonder you will find it very difficult to find overweight or obese vegan. The plant-based ingredients in the vegan diet provide the body with just what it needs and no excesses.  Vegans tend to enjoy better sleep and less stomach and digestive issues.
